Two players from last season took major steps in their professional careers after going undrafted in the 2026 NBA Draft on Wednesday.

Former LSU guard agreed to an Exhibit 10 deal with the Charlotte Hornets, and forward agreed to play for the Sacramento Kings’ summer league team, both shared on their respective social media accounts.

Neither player is guaranteed a spot on either franchise's roster. Mackinnon’s Exhibit 10 contract is a one-year, minimum-salary agreement that is unguaranteed. New players on this kind of deal typically play in the NBA Summer League.

The 6-foot-6, 195-pound Australian was the Tigers’ leading scorer, averaging 15.7 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. Mackinnon, a Portland transfer, shot 41.8% from the field, 37.6% from the 3-point line and 87.7% from the free-throw line as a senior.

The 6-9, 225-pound Sutton finished last year averaging 13.1 points and 7.3 rebounds. The fifth-year senior shot 45.7% from the field, 30.3% from beyond the arc and 82.4% from the free-throw line. The Tulsa, Oklahoma, native had six double-doubles after transferring from Omaha.

Former LSU coach Matt McMahon relied more upon Mackinnon and Sutton for offense after injuries to the team’s top two players cratered the Tigers’ offensive ceiling.

Star 6-1 point guard Dedan Thomas, now at Houston, was the Tigers’ best player as a junior. The lefty played 16 games and averaged 15.3 points and a team-leading 6.5 assists before having season-ending foot surgery in February.

Jalen Reed was expected to be LSU’s second-best player before injuring his left Achilles tendon, his second-straight season-ending injury, in the sixth game of the 2025-26 season. The 6-10 forward, now at Michigan, averaged 11 points on 60.6% shooting and 6.0 rebounds in the first five contests. The Tigers finished 15 - 17 overall and 3-15 in the Southeastern Conference.

The NBA Summer League begins July 3 with the California Classic and July 4 at the Salt Lake City Summer League. It continues with the Las Vegas Summer League from July 9-19.

Mackinnon and Sutton will be auditioning for at least a training camp invitation. One potential outcome for them would be to earn two-way contracts, which allow them to split their time between the NBA and the franchise’s G-League affiliate.
