You can add the names of Shaquille O’Neal and LSU men’s basketball coach Johnny Jones to the list of sports-related celebrities helping out flood victims in south h.
Jones announced Tuesday that all proceeds from the tournament he and O’Neal will host Friday, Sept. 16 at Carter Plantation in Springfield will be donated to area flood relief efforts.
“There were some questions as to whether or not we should even have the tournament this year because of the flooding,” Jones said in a university news release. “We decided not only should we still have the tournament, but we should donate all the proceeds to help the people affected by the flood.”
This is the first year Jones and O’Neal have teamed up to host a golf tournament. Both had separate events in the past and this one will slide into the date previously used by O’Neal on the day before LSU’s first Southeastern Conference home football game.
Entry fee is $1,000 per team or $250 per golfer. Hole sponsorships are available for $500.
