The LHSAA state softball tournament will start one day later than scheduled because of expected inclement weather, the LHSAA announced on Wednesday.
The semifinals, initially set for Friday, will now be played on Saturday. The finals are also pushed back a day and will be played Sunday.
There is a 90% chance of rain on Friday in the Sulphur area, where the tournament takes place.
The game times and field locations at Frasch Park listed for Friday's semifinals will remain the same for Saturday.ย
This change affects eight Baton Rouge-area schools competing in the semifinals this weekend. In Division I nonselect, No. 5 St. Amant takes on No. 8 Hahnville and No. 10 Live Oak faces No. 3 West Monroe. Both games will start at 5 p.m. Saturday.
In Division II nonselect, No. 3 Brusly will face No. 2 Lutcher in a battle of two local schools at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
Third-seeded French Settlement plays No. 2 Kaplan at noon Saturday in the Division III select bracket.
In the Division III select bracket, No. 2 Parkview Baptist and No. 3 Notre Dame will square off at noon Saturday. In Division IV select semifinals, No. 4 Ascension Catholic will play top-seeded Riverside Academy at 5 p.m. Saturday.
In Class C, No. 6 Maurepas will play No. 2 Claiborne Christian at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
