A suspect is dead and responded to a scene "really unlike anything we've ever seen," a mass shooting in south Shreveport with multiple juvenile victims and two women.
Seven of the children were shot in the home, while was shot on the roof after attempting to escape through a window.
Police were called to the 300 block of West 79th Street near Linwood Avenue just before 6 a.m. and "discovered a large crime scene with eight deceased juveniles."
The suspect is alleged to have carjacked a vehicle at the intersection of W. 70th Street and Linwood, north of the main scene. A chase into Bossier City involving Shreveport Police pursuers followed, and when the man left his vehicle on Brompton Lane in Bossier City with a weapon, he was shot. According to h State Police, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Bordelon said the suspect was believed to be in "some kind of romantic relationship" with one of the women who was shot.
According to police, there were three homes involved in the incident. Two of the homes were located on West 79th Street near Linwood and the other on Harrison.
“Multiple law enforcement agencies are investigating this tragic situation. We do not yet know all the details, but I am deeply saddened by the senseless loss of life,” Attorney General Liz Murrill said. “I’m praying for the victims and their family members in the wake of this devastating violence.”
