Owner Stacey Tate said she encourages brides-to-be to reserve their wedding cake with Gambino’s at least six months in advance to allow time for tasting sessions and planning the cake design and fillings. In fact, some people have booked their wedding cakes up to a year ahead of time.

Tate said almond remains Gambino’s most popular wedding cake flavor, although red velvet and chocolate are also ordered often.

“You can choose different fillings for different tiers as well,” she said. “We have different sizes and shapes, from simple to ornate.”

In addition to wedding cakes, Gambino’s makes cakes for other occasions, such as birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, baptisms and much more. There are even candles sold in the bakery to top everything off and create a perfect presentation.

“If you give us time, we can customize anything for you,” Tate said. “We also have a lot of grab-and-go stuff that you can take right out of the showcase.”

Tate said some Gambino’s customers are looking for non-cake options. Their mini-pies are some of the top sellers, as are treats like petit fours, cookies and cupcakes.

“We see people who want something special if they’re going on a trip or a party at a friend’s house,” she said. “A lot of people will get cupcakes because sometimes they are easier to serve. Some people get them to go along with a cake and they want the colors to match. It’s all customizable.”
