Blossom is a dedicated 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to meeting the basic needs of children from infancy to teens in crisis situations. We serve children facing unforeseen challenges, including home fires, homelessness, tragic losses, and economic instability. Our mission is particularly focused on those who have lost parents due to domestic violence, cancer, suicide, drug overdose, car accidents, or incarceration. In these heartbreaking moments, we step in to support caregivers who must suddenly take on the responsibility of raising children. Our services include essential items such as toiletries, underclothing (undershirts, underwear, socks), school uniforms, school supplies, feminine hygiene products, diapers, pull-ups, and wipes; resources that make a crucial difference in the lives of children throughout the year. We particularly focus on impoverished areas and disadvantaged schools, working closely with teachers, principals, and school counselors to identify children in need. As a referral-based organization, we partner with local nonprofits such as the Baton Rouge Junior League, YWCA, Capital Area United Way 211, Power Pump Girls, EBR Schools, and the Baton Rouge Fire Department. Together, we create a network of support to ensure children and families receive the assistance they need when they need it most.

Our Mission

At Blossom, our mission is clear: to make basic needs accessible to all children. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their circumstances. We strive to provide immediate assistance within 24 hours of a family's crisis, bridging the gap where traditional government programs fall short. Our goal is to restore confidence, stability, and a sense of normalcy, helping children to blossom even in the face of adversity.

Our Vision

We envision a future where all children and families in Louisian have seamless access to basic needs, irrespective of their socioeconomic status. By streamlining assistance processes and enhancing support services, we aim to dismantle barriers to education, mental health resources, and safe environments. Through initiatives like our Life Skills to Blossom program and partnerships with period equity organizations, we are fostering a thriving community for future generations.

Our Impact

Located at 8120 Kelwood Ave in Baton Rouge, Blossom collaborates with a network of organizations including Capital Area United Way 211, Baton Rouge Junior League Diaper Bank, YWCA, and local schools to identify and serve those in need. This year alone, we have positively impacted over 500 children across East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, Ascension, East Feliciana, and Iberville Parishes. Our outreach spans over 26 public schools, focusing particularly on students at Park Elementary, Capitol Elementary, Belfair Elementary, and Capitol Middle School. In our commitment to community, Blossom has distributed over 10,000 diapers and period products throughout the capital region. This summer, we expanded our efforts by partnering with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Department’s summer program to support children in the rural area of Donaldsonville, h.
