KNOXVILLE, Tenn. โ€“ Dylan Nutt used his homegrown knowledge of the Tennessee River to take the second-lead in the Bassmaster Classic.

If Nutt, from Nashville, holds his near four-pound lead over Georgia touring national pro Drew Cook, Nutt will become only the second B.A.S.S. Nation angler to take the prestigious bass-fishing title and the $300,000 first-place prize. Nation anglers are amateur weekend fishermen who qualified for the 56-angler field.

Nutt brought in five bass weighing 26 pounds, 11 ounces Saturday for a 46-pound total. Cook trails a 42-pounds, 1-ounce.

Bryan Kerchal was the only Nation angler to win the Classic. He was killed in 1994 plane crash five months after his Classic victory.

Sunday’s final weigh-in will be live on the Classic website: .
