5 PLAYERS TO WATCH
ATH John Walker, Plaquemine, Sr.: The three-star UL commit does it all for the Green Devils. He took snaps at wide receiver, quarterback and defensive back last season and affected the game at all three positions.
ATH Landon Johnson, Madison Prep, Sr.: Another do-it-all star in this district is three-star TCU commit Landon Johnson. He's a defensive back but also made plays at quarterback, wide receiver and on punt returns.
QB Caden Levingston, St. Michael, Jr.: The Warriors' dual-threat quarterback finished last year with 1,366 passing yards and 13 touchdowns on 78 completions. He also ran for 355 yards and three touchdowns on 76 carries. He enters his second season as the starting quarterback.
RB Robdrick Covington, Brusly, Sr.: The Panthers senior running back ran for 539 yards and 12 touchdowns last year. With several key skill players graduated, Covington could be poised for an even bigger role this season.
RB Harlem Turner, Madison Prep, Sr.: Madison Prep features one of the best running back rooms in the state. Harlem Turner ran for 916 yards and 11 touchdowns last season on 81 carries.
5 THINGS TO KNOW
1. Madison Prep moves up to Class 4A and will be an immediate contender to potentially win the district. The Chargers feature talented players on both sides of the ball.
2. Plaquemine's pair of 3-star South Alabama commit edge Jairius Jones and UL commit Walker will bolster a team that fell one game short of a state final appearance last year. While the team will need to replace several starters, Jones and Walker will help the Green Devils compete immediately.
3. Brusly will start a new quarterback this season after Drake Vincent graduated. The new starter will have big shoes to fill after Vincent threw for 2,821 yards and 34 touchdowns last year.
4. St. Michael graduated only nine seniors off last year's eight-win team. With a majority of the Warriors' production back, including four of five offensive linemen, coach Zach Leger said he expects a big year for his team.
5. Scotlandville drops down from Class 5A to Class 4A. After a difficult 2025 season that ended with just one win, a new district could open opportunities for a bounce-back 2026 season.
