The 2023-24 NFL playoff field is set, and the San Francisco 49ers are the early favorite to win Super Bowl 58.
The 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens will have first round byes as the top seeds in the NFC and the AFC, and the Ravens aren’t far behind the 49ers on the odds chart as the only teams with odds better than +500.
The 49ers (+225) finished 12-5 in the regular season and defeated both of their biggest threats for the NFC’s No. 1 seed in the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Ravens (+325) finished with the best record at 13-4 and rose to the occasion against tough competition having defeated the 49ers and a fellow AFC contender in the Miami Dolphins (+1800).
The team that could be tricky for the Ravens though is their division rival Cleveland Browns, as the Browns defeated them once during the regular season and could offer value at +3300 to win it all with Joe Flacco having turned their offense around.
Other AFC contenders include the surging Buffalo Bills (+650), who won their past five games to secure the AFC’s No. 2 seed, and the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs (+1000) are still in the mix despite their struggles down the stretch.
As for the NFC, the Cowboys appear to be the only other surefire contender outside of the 49ers at +750 to win the Super Bowl, and they were able to secure the No. 2 seed over the defending NFC champion Eagles, who are currently +1800 after a rough finish.
While the NFC doesn’t appear as deep as the AFC, the Los Angeles Rams have been hot down the stretch having won four games and could offer value as a dark horse at +5000, as they’re only 3-point underdogs in their wildcard matchup against the Detroit Lions (+2200).
The Houston Texans are somewhat intriguing at +7000 but have a tough first round matchup against the Browns, and the Pittsburgh Steelers have the longest odds of anyone at +13000 having to face the Bills in the first round.
Other NFC playoff teams include the NFC South champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers at +9500 and the surging Green Bay Packers at +10000, and the Packers make for an interesting longshot play as a young team with nothing to lose.
