San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy will get a chance to lead the 49ers to their first Super Bowl win in nearly 30 years in what will be his first Super Bowl appearance.
Purdy’s performed exceptionally well for a second-year player who was coined as “Mr. Irrelevant” after being the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, and he’s now on the cusp of a Super Bowl title after leading an epic comeback in the NFC Championship Game to get the 49ers past the Detroit Lions.
It won’t be easy though for Purdy to continue his magic in Super Bowl 58, as he’ll be going up against the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs who are led by elite quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Below are my favorite prop plays involving Purdy on Super Bowl Sunday.
TOP BROCK PURDY PROP PLAYS
Brock Purdy UNDER 31.5 pass attempts (-128 at FanDuel)
Purdy’s been forced to air it out the past two weeks in the playoffs with the 49ers playing from behind both times, but I don’t see him having to chase points as much in the Super Bowl since the 49ers should be able to establish the run with Christian McCaffrey and get off to an early lead.
The last time the Chiefs and the 49ers faced off in the Super Bowl saw Patrick Mahomes have to lead a comeback, and while Purdy should have his share of opportunities as a passer, it’s likely that 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan dials back Purdy’s pass attempts some with the strength of the Chiefs defense being their secondary.
Brock Purdy OVER 246.5 passing yards (-110 at FanDuel)
While Purdy might not throw as much as he usually does in this matchup, he’ll likely be able to connect on some long throws, which is why I like the over on his passing yardage prop even though I don’t see him hitting the over on pass attempts.
The Ravens were able to connect on some deep throws against the Chiefs secondary, so it’s likely that the 49ers will look to attack them downfield since they’re so stingy over the middle, and I expect Purdy to connect on at least one or two deep bombs of over 50 yards to where he should throw for over 247 yards on the day.
Brock Purdy UNDER 12.5 rushing yards (+100 at DraftKings)
Purdy ran wild for his standards in the NFC Championship Game, as he picked up 48 rushing yards against the Lions that were a huge in the 49ers pulling off the comeback, but the bottom line is that Purdy shining as a runner has been rare this season.
The 49ers normally don’t dial up many designed runs for Purdy, and while he seems to have gotten more comfortable as a runner during this playoff run, I don’t see his increase in running becoming the new normal considering the 49ers have two of the best rushing weapons in the NFL in Christian McCaffrey and Deebo Samuel.
