The Super Bowl 58 matchup is set between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, and it’s clear who bettors are backing so far.

The initial betting line opened last night with the 49ers as 2.5-point favorites at most major sportsbooks, but the line has since shifted toward the Chiefs with the 49ers not favored by as much.

The current betting line at most books has the 49ers as 1-point favorites, with others having them favored by 1.5-points, which seems to indicate that money has been coming in on the Chiefs.

The Chiefs defeated the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship Game to advance to their fourth Super Bowl in five years, and Patrick Mahomes is seeking his third Super Bowl title in that span.

Mahomes and Travis Kelce had somewhat down years for their standards in 2023, but they’ve returned to their usual elite form during the Chiefs playoff run and have bettors excited as they look to defend their title.

Repeating in the NFL is extremely difficult though as evidenced by no team having done so since the Patriots back in 2004-05, and the 49ers won’t be an easy team for the Chiefs to do it against.

The 49ers delivered an epic comeback in the NFC Championship Game to defeat the Detroit Lions and reach their second Super Bowl under head coach Kyle Shanahan, the last one being against the Chiefs back in 2019-20.

The 49ers had the more successful regular season and appear to have a better roster than the Chiefs on paper, which is why they’re favored, but it’s tough to bet against the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes at this point.

The over/under total is set at 47.5 points at most sportsbooks, which indicates that there should be a healthy amount of points scored without the game turning into a shootout lacking defense.

Kickoff for Super Bowl 58 between the Chiefs and 49ers is set for Sunday, Feb. 11 at 5:30 p.m. and Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, NV and will be broadcast on CBS.
