The New Orleans Saints head into the 2024 season with an experienced roster, but the bottom line is that they haven’t been getting the results they’ve wanted in recent seasons.

The Saints haven’t made the playoffs since 2020, and while they had a winning season last year, it was a disappointment overall considering they had one the easiest schedules in the NFL and were favored to win the NFC South.

The Saints enter 2024 over the salary cap and facing a much tougher schedule, and the oddsmakers have adjusted accordingly with the Saints being a longshot to win the 2025 Super Bowl.

Super Bowl 59 will take place in New Orleans, but the odds say that the Saints won’t be playing in the Caesars Superdome come February, as they’re currently +8000 at both DraftKings and Caesars to win it.

The Saints have slightly better odds at FanDuel (+7500) and BetMGM (+6600), but it appears unlikely that the Saints will be able to significantly improve their aging roster considering how much they’re over the cap.

Restructuring contracts will likely allow the Saints to keep a similar roster to last season, and they already restructured quarterback Derek Carr’s deal to where his 2024 cap hit is reduced.

The oddsmakers don’t see the Saints current lineup being enough though with both the Atlanta Falcons and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers having better Super Bowl odds.

The Falcons have the best odds among NFC South teams to win the Super Bowl at +3500, as they should be able to improve under first-year head coach Raheem Morris.

The Bucs are a longer shot at +7000 at most books, but they delivered as underdogs last season and are set to bring back Baker Mayfield at quarterback.

The Carolina Panthers have the longest odds of anyone in the NFL at +25000 to win the Super Bowl, as they had the worst record last season and will be a young, rebuilding team under first-year head coach Dave Canales.

The Saints could offer value for bettors as a longshot, but the lack of cap space and an aging roster will likely prevent them from making the playoffs again unless they have a strong draft class like they did in 2017.

As far as Super Bowl 59 favorites, the San Francisco 49ers (+550) and Kansas City Chiefs (+650) lead the way followed by the Baltimore Ravens (+900), Buffalo Bills (+1000), Detroit Lions (+1200) and Cincinnati Bengals (+1300).
