On May 16th, voters will decide on the future beneficiary of a most complex funding source for elementary, secondary and higher education. I wonder what former state Rep. Kevin P. Reilly, Sr., would say about this proposal to fund a teacher’s pay raise? His obituary in 2012 stated that “One of his proudest legislative accomplishments was the creation of a public trust fund, commonly known as 8g. This fund permanently dedicated the proceeds from an oil and gas royalty settlement with the federal government for the benefit of elementary, secondary, and higher education.”
