A vote on without a permit or training may soon happen in h. Now is the time for all law-abiding citizens in h to contact their representatives.
A yes vote for constitutional carry would be prudent for the following reasons:
Carry permit systems violate our Second Amendment rights. Self-defense is a God-given right, not a privilege to be doled out by the state. Why should any of us have to pay for a right we already have?
Our existing carry permit system discriminates against the poor. To obtain a carry permit and pay for a training class are both costly and time-consuming. The rich and famous have security guards, burglar alarm systems, gated communities and carry permits. The poor have 911.
A carry permit system creates a database of gun owners. The list could be leveraged to punish gun owners and/or seize firearms.
Criminals already carry guns illegally. They seek out defenseless victims. Constitutional carry helps level the playing field. God created men, and Sam Colt made them equal.
Carrying a concealed gun keeps the individual carrying the gun and the public safer.
Outlaws seek out “gun free zones” because they are the path of least resistance. Therefore, in many cases, constitutional carry would deter crime because the thug would never know who was packing.
Vermont residents have enjoyed constitutional carry since the Constitution was enacted. They have one of the lowest violent crime rates in the nation.
Constitutional carry, which is the law in 27 states, has had no adverse effects on public safety.
