Tropical Storm Barry made landfall just south of Tampico, Mexico as a tropical depression Sunday and dissipated overnight, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Barry, the c basinÌýin 2025, dissipated over the rough eastern Mexico terrain, according to the 4 a.m. NHC advisory. Barry became a tropical storm Sunday and made landfall at around 8 p.m.

The system's remnants were moving northwest at 12 mph with maximum sustained winds of 30 mph. The remnants are expected to produce between 3 to 5 inches of rainfall across portions of the Mexican states of San Luis Potosi and Tamaulipas Monday, with some areas getting as much as 8 inches.Ìý

The rain could produce dangerous flooding and mudslides in the area.Ìý

Forecasters also continue to track a disturbance off the Southeast U.S, which continues to have a low chance of formation in the next seven days.Ìý

The disturbance is expected to stall and weaken off the coast of Florida later this week, according to the NHC.Ìý

An area of low pressure may be able to form off the weakening frontal boundary over Florida or the eastern Gulf of Mexico. Some tropical or subtropical development could occur in the following days with the area of low pressure moving little, forecasters say.Ìý

Forecasters give the disturbance a 20% chance of forming., and there are no expected impacts for ¶¶Òõh.

It is for disturbances to appear in the Atlantic Ocean during, or even before, the first month of hurricane season, which runs from June 1 to Nov. 30 each year.
