After a from above-average mid-May heat, local forecasters say it could feel like near 100 degree temperatures this Memorial Day weekend.

In New Orleans, highs for Saturday, Sunday and Monday are projected to be around 91 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Lows will be between 76 and 77 degrees. Heat index values, or "feels like" temperatures, will be near 100 degrees all weekend. Â
Baton Rouge will see around the same level of heat, with highs between 92 and 90 degrees over Memorial Day weekend and lows between 73 and 75 degrees.Â
Saturday and Sunday will be mostly sunny with a chance of some isolated thunderstorms, according to the NWS forecast. New Orleans has about a 20% chance of rain for Saturday and Sunday while Baton Rouge has a 20% chance Saturday and 30% Sunday as of Friday morning, according to the NWS.Â
Rain is looking likelier on Memorial Day and more scattered thunderstorms. In New Orleans, the likelihood of rain is about 30% while Baton Rouge has a 50% chance, as of the Friday morning forecast. Â
