An overturned truck on Interstate 12 in Hammond has spilled bales of hay on the highway Monday morning, closing the highway eastbound at Interstate 55 and causing significant delays.Â
Cameras from the Department of Transportation and Development's 511 map show several bays of hay blocking the highway leading to significant congestion.
The spilled load was first reported at around 6:40 a.m.Â
According to , congestion was approaching State Highway 43 before 7:20 a.m. Drivers were advised to use an alternate route.
