An Atlantic disturbance that hurricane forecasters were tracking early Sunday morning is expected to move northeast away from the U.S., according to the National Hurricane Center.Â
The trough of low pressure about 500 miles east-southeast of Bermuda was producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms as of 7 a.m. Sunday, forecasters said.Â
Forecasters said the disturbance could slowly develop over the next few days as it continues moving northeast over the central Atlantic. Then, it's expected to run into a region of strong wind shear, which generally hampers the strengthening of tropical disturbances.Â
Forecasters said the disturbance has a 10% chance of becoming a tropical depression or storm within the next week.Â
It's not in the Atlantic during, or even before, the first month of hurricane season, which runs from June 1 to Nov. 30 each year.Â
The 2025 season is expected to see , thanks in part to warm temperatures in the Atlantic and an expected lack of wind shear.Â
