The city of St. George is starting up a free outdoor concert and arts market series featuring Phat Hat and Parish County Line in October.

“Sundays in St. George” will be held at Highland Road Park with live music and an arts market with local vendors, according to a Friday news release.

The first two events scheduled are set for 2 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 11 and 18.

Phat Hat is performing Oct. 11, and Parish County Line is performing Oct. 18.

The events will take place on the north side of Highland Road Park.

St. George is partnering with the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge, with support from Visit Baton Rouge, to put on the new series.

Travis Thornton, chairman of the St. George Chamber of Commerce, said he is excited to see the community come together and that this new series will be a “test case” for future city events.

Sundays in St. George is seeking sponsors, food vendors and local businesses interested in sponsorships. Anyone interested can get more information at the Arts Council website.

Thornton said the Chamber of Commerce is going to be heavily active in getting local businesses involved with the series, with more information coming soon.

“I’m so excited about seeing all the ideas and new things coming our way,” he said. “This is exactly the type of stuff that we want to continue doing.”
