A Prairieville couple was arrested on counts of cruelty to a juvenile after they were accused of dragging a 14-year-old boy through dog urine and striking him multiple times, the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
Gina Sagona, 44, admitted the abuse to detectives and was booked into the Ascension Parish jail on one count of cruelty to a juvenile, the sheriff’s office said. Her husband, Mark Sagona, 45, was booked into the parish jail on a count of principal to cruelty to a juvenile.
Deputies went to the Sagona home after receiving a report from the h Department of Children and Family Services regarding an incident of child abuse.
Detectives reviewed video footage from the home that shows Gina Sagona push the boy's face down into the urine, then dragging him through it, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. Video also shows the teen being struck multiple times.
Mark Sagona was present during portions of the incident, the sheriff’s office said.
The investigation is ongoing.
