A Ponchatoula woman died in a one-car crash early Wednesday morning, as she attempted to get on Interstate 12 westbound from the entrance ramp in Walker, police said.
Elizabeth Woodruff, 24, was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Impala at about 2:25 a.m., when she lost control of the vehicle in the process of entering the on-ramp and struck a light pole, causing heavy damage to the car, Walker Police Chief David Addison said in a news release.
Woodruff was transported to a hospital in Walker, where she was pronounced dead.
There were no other occupants in the vehicle.
The accident remains under investigation, the police department said.
