A second man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting outside a shoe store on Florida Boulevard three weeks ago, Baton Rouge police said.

Malik Conway, 22, was arrested Friday on counts of second-degree murder and simple battery.

On May 14, police responded to a shooting around 3 p.m.ย in the parking lot of the Athleteโ€™s Foot store at 4373 Florida Blvd. Officers found Naโ€™Quail Weaver, 28, suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound.

Weaver was transported to a hospital where he died three days later.

Deandre Selmon, 26, turned himself into police on May 15 and was booked on counts of second-degree murder, aggravated battery and illegal use of a weapon.

Through their investigation and video surveillance footage, police identified Weaver and another individual walking home from work through a parking lot where Conway and Selmon were waiting for them in two cars, according to an arrest warrant for Conway.

Selmon got out of a grey Geneisis SUV and Conway got out of a silver Volkswagen sedan. They chased Weaver and the other individual before Weaver fell, according to the warrant.

In the video, Selmon was seen pistol-whipping Weaver and then beating him in the parking lot, police said. Selmonโ€™s gun discharged, and the bullet struck Weaver. Selmon and Conway then fled the scene.

Police were able to identify Conway through the video and social media pictures.

Conway does not appear to have a prior criminal history.
