Bookworms searching for a few tomes to add to their personal libraries should check out the Friends of the Livingston Library System book sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Denham Springs-Walker Branch.

Teen Read Week
Livingston Parish Library kicks off Teen Read Week on Sunday at all library branches. This year’s theme is “Read for the fun of it!” Scavenger hunts for ages 12 to 18 will be held Sunday through Oct. 15 at all branches.
Pumpkin decorating
The Albany-Springfield Branch of Livingston Parish Library invites people of all ages to take part in some family-friendly pumpkin decorating at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. Craft supplies such as ribbon, paint and duct tape will be provided — all you need to provide is the pumpkin and the creativity.

Join the hunt
Teen fans of the hit TV series “Supernatural” can go on a monster hunt of their own at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Watson Branch of Livingston Parish Library. Follow the clues just like brothers Sam and Dean Winchester would to solve the case. Hunters must be between the ages of 12 and 18.

Cookbook challenge
The Livingston Parish Library’s new culinary book club for home cooks, amateur bakers and wannabe chefs meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Main Branch. New members are welcome.
The club meets monthly and chooses a recipe based on a theme. The following month, members bring their cooked dish back for the group to sample. Members must be 18 or older.

Introduction to genealogy
Amateur family history enthusiasts in need of some pointers may want to check out Genealogy 101: An Introduction at 6 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Albany-Springfield Branch of Livingston Parish Library. The workshop will discuss the process of starting genealogical research, useful resources, types of documents and how to organize all the information.

A zombie infestation is forecast for the Denham Springs-Walker Branch of Livingston Parish Library at 6 p.m. Oct. 13. Youths ages 12 to 18 can test their wits and skills to survive the apocalypse in this action-packed event. Zombie attire is welcome.

A fun night of games for ages 17 and older begins at 6 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Main Branch of Livingston Parish Library. Console, board, card, RPG, dice and interactive storytelling games will be available, but feel free to bring your own.
