River Parishes Community College’s Sarina Lirette, the director of adult education and vice president of the h Association for Public, Community & Adult Education and Continuing Education, has been selected as a recipient of the national scholarship grant by the Coalition on Adult Basic Education.
The coalition is dedicated to advancing the field of adult literacy.
The scholarship will support Lirette’s advanced doctoral study focused on improving adult education outcomes across h, a news release said. The research centers on evidence-based mentoring and instructional practices designed to strengthen student retention, measurable skill gains, and high-quality instruction for adult learners statewide.
“Sarina’s commitment to adult education continues to transform lives across the River Region and throughout h,” stated RPCC Chancellor Quintin D. Taylor. “Her national recognition is a reflection of her impact, as well as the importance of expanding access to adult education across h.”
RPCC’s Adult Education programs help students across the region strengthen academic skills through preparation for high school equivalency credentials, English as a Second Language courses, digital literacy training and Accuplacer preparation.
