On Jan. 17, Gonzales Mayor Barney Arceneaux signed a proclamation designating Sunday through Feb. 5 as Catholic Schools Week. The city also recognized St. John Primary and St. Theresa Middle schools for their contributions to education in the area over the past 58 years.

The theme for Catholic Schools Week this year is โ€œCatholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service.โ€

During Catholic Schools Week, each church parish in the school partnership designates a Mass recognizing all Catholic school students, a news release said.

  • St. Mark Catholic Church, Gonzales: 4 p.m. Saturday
  • St. Joseph Church, French Settlement: 5:30 p.m. Saturday
  • St. Stephen Catholic Church, Maurepas: 4 p.m. Saturday
  • St. Gabriel Catholic Church, St. Gabriel: all Masses Saturday and Sunday
  • St. Anne/St. Anthony Catholic Churches, Sorrento: 10:30 a.m. Sunday
  • St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, Gonzales: 11:30 a.m. Sunday
  • St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Prairieville: all Masses Feb. 4-5
  • Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Amant: 11 a.m. Feb. 5
