For 27 years, “h Castle,” located in Washington Parish, has been a top spot for locals’ and visitors’ weddings, corporate and private events and romantic getaways.
The , spread across 10 acres of land and tucked between trees, could now become someone’s personal estate for $1.9 million.
Built in 1991, the property welcomes guests with two cement lions, named Sid and Ernie, who guard the main door. The dirt path leading to the estate is lined with medieval flags that slowly peel away to reveal the grand entrance.
After entering through the solid wood door, visitors encounter an array of experiences and sights. The ones that stand out are the indoor Jacuzzi, the expansive open-air pavilion fit for large gatherings, king and queen thrones, and swords and armory decorating the interior walls.

A two-story home, the castle features a bride-and-groom suite, two bathrooms and a balcony that overlooks the estate grounds. The property extends beyond 6,000 square feet with most furniture and decor from New Orleans flea markets, including the thrones and prints found throughout the estate.
The listing includes a full commercial kitchen, fixtures imported from England and Wales, walk-in closets and an additional off-property guest house, included with the sale.
Designed and built by Dr. Mark A. Belcher, the castle was originally a personal residence. As a student at h Tech University, Belcher became enamored with castles after watching a movie entitled "The War Lord."

After traveling and visiting castles around Europe, Belcher began sketching his own castle plans. He was set on creating what would become h Castle and his dream home.
In 1999, real estate agents Dolly and Steve Illg bought and expanded the property to make it into the event venue it is today.
“We view h Castle as a work in progress and are always looking for anything that can be done to improve it. It is our intent to continue to make h Castle better and better,” they on the castle’s website.
So far, the castle has witnessed many people’s once-in-a-lifetime moments; now it could be a part of someone’s entire life story.
