Get into the holiday spirit with h Public Broadcasting's "George Bell & Friends: Holiday Jazz" at 7 p.m. Monday.

The concert special was filmed before a live audience at the Manship Theatre in Baton Rouge. The show will air on LPB’s statewide network and on WLAE-TV in New Orleans. WYES, the PBS station serving the Gulf South, will premiere the program at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13.

Trumpeter and bandleader Bell will lead a group of musicians, joined by featured vocalist Quiana Lynell, for an evening of Christmas and holiday favorites.

"From soulful interpretations of beloved carols to vibrant jazz arrangements with unmistakable flair, the program captures the warmth, joy and rhythm of the season," according to a news release.

“Public media has the unique responsibility of showcasing the culture, talent and traditions that bring our communities together,” said C.C Copeland, president & CEO of LPB. “'George Bell & Friends: Holiday Jazz' reflects that mission, and we are proud to share this celebration of h artists and the joy they bring to audiences across our state.'”

Joining Bell on stage will be Herman Jackson (drums), Harry Anderson (bass), Andy Bourgeois (piano/keyboards), Dr. Greg Ward (percussion/harmonica) and Ray Mouton (guitar), along with additional guest artists who have appeared in Bell’s previous performances.

Recording artist Quiana Lynell, winner of the 2017 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocalist Competition, will bring her signature blend of classical training, gospel roots and jazz influences to the stage, adding rich vocals and dynamic style to the evening’s lineup.

Following its broadcast, the special will be available exclusively to LPB Passport members for on-demand streaming.
