Although the high temperature is forecast to reach only 36 degrees on Saturday, all three Carnival parades in the Baton Rouge area will roll, krewes confirmed on Thursday.
The Krewe of Oshun parade is set for noon, while the Krewe of Denham Springs parade is scheduled for 3 p.m.
"The party is still on, but it’s going to be a chilly one! We are officially rolling at our normal time of 12:00 PM," Oshun posted on Facebook.
A float rider hands a Mardi Gras colored umbrella down to the crowd during the annual Krewe of Denham Springs Mardi Gras parade Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025.
In the post, Oshun offered a couple of tips for parade day:
- "Bundle Up! We’re asking all our riders, walkers, and spectators to layer up. Heavy coats, gloves, and hand warmers are highly encouraged!"
- "Efficiency is Key: We’re working to keep the parade moving smoothly and quickly so we can get everyone through the route and back to the warmth as soon as possible."
"Purple, green and COLD! Bundle up, and come out to the route," The Krewe of Denham Springs said in another Facebook post.
The only night parade, the Krewe of Chemin Neuf in New Roads, however, is pushing up its start time from 6 p.m. to 5 p.m., Krewe Founder Robert Myer said Thursday morning on WBRZ, adding that their hope is to finish the route while the temperature is above freezing.
Here are the parade details, including parade route maps. Check theadvocate.com for any post-press parade updates.Ìý
