Soup and salad from Ruffino's
For a birthday dinner in Lafayette recently, I made my way to Ruffino's to celebrate two of my dearest friends. After a parade of appetizers around the table, I decided on soup and salad for my entree.
Corn and crabmeat bisque from Ruffino's.ย
The corn and crabmeat bisque included jumbo lump crabmeat, sweet white corn and cream. With a sweet and salty flavor profile, the soup was hearty, warm and robust. As a juxtaposition to the soup, the Sensation Salad was light and crisp. I added seared tuna to the dish, but it also came with a tangy gorgonzola vinaigrette, romaine lettuce, pistachios, crispy prosciutto and cucumbers.
Writing about the dishes now makes me want to order them again for lunch.

Loaded burger at Solera
The Solera double cheeseburger features gooey, melted aged cheddar, creole mustard, onions, bacon jam and a sunny side up egg.
The burger at Solera is loaded with all the good things. The Solera double cheeseburger features gooey, melted aged cheddar, creole mustard, onions, bacon jam and a sunny side up egg. Although I must admit I requested no pickles on my burger, the bacon jam added the perfect amount of tanginess to contrast with the hearty brioche bread and runny egg yolk that coated the burger.
It was a great option if youโre hungry for a classic, juicy, perfectly-cooked burger.
