Need to cool off? Summer is here, which means heat and humidity are right there with it. Where to find water becomes one of the main priorities for Baton Rouge residents, especially when long summer days and children are involved.

Baton Rouge has private neighborhood pools and health club pools that require memberships, but here are a few public facilities for swimming and splashing options.

BREC swimming pools

BREC operates three community pools, Anna T. Jordan, City-Brooks and Howell Community Park, which are free and open to the public. They open May 26.

Anna T. Jordan

The Anna T. Jordan Community Park swimming pool is open from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday during the summer.ย 

City-Brooks Community Park

1650 Eddie Robinson Sr. Drive

The City-Brooks Community Park swimming pool is open from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday through Friday, and from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The pool is closed on Tuesdays.ย

Hotel pool day passes

If you're looking for a one-day break with a touch of luxury, two Baton Rouge hotels offer access to the pools and services for a fee.

Crowne Plaza Executive Center

4728 Constitution Ave.ย 

For a swimming daycation, Crowne Plaza offers day passes for $25 per adult, for ages 18 and older. Pool amenities include lounge chairs, towels, food and drinks available for purchase, a fitness center and changing rooms with showers.ย To purchase tickets, visitย .

Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center

At the Hilton Capitol Center downtown, adults and children can swim and lounge right by the Mississippi River with a dynamite view of the bridge. Adult passes start at $25, and child passes start at $10. Rent out a cabana to have your own shaded spot for $175 for the day. To purchase tickets, visitย .

L'Auberge Casino Hotel

777 Lโ€™Auberge Ave.

L'Auberge offers a day pass and a complimentary drink for adults for $30 a person Monday through Thursday. Passes must be booked by 10 a.m. for that day. The rooftop pool overlooks the Mississippi River, providing a scenic view for the visit. Guests must be 21+ to enter. Children are not allowed.

LSU UREC Pool

For LSU students and members, the LSU University Recreation Centerย offers three aquatic options to beat the summer heat. The outdoor lap pool is divided into a four-lane deep lap section and a four-lane shallow lap section. The deep lap pool also has basketball goals and pool basketballs for some cool competition.

The indoor pool is a space to get in a workout while cooling off. The eight-lane pool, 25 yards in length, provides plenty of space for racing or practicing strokes.

For less exercise and more relaxation, the ideal spot is the LSU-shaped leisure river where visitors can drift inside the letters of the campus.

Admission for full-time LSU students is free. Other membership options are available for LSU alumni, faculty and staff, LSU affiliates and LSU guests at .

Liberty Lagoon

ตธ้ทกฐไโ€™s ย has grown to include attractions like the Shockwave, tube slides, plunge slides, a lazy river and a childrenโ€™s play area. The lagoon opens from noon to 6 p.m. May 23 through July.ย On Tuesdays, the park is closed, and on Wednesdays, the park will have a delayed opening due to BREC Camps and will be open from 3 to 6 p.m.

For the 2026 season, Liberty Lagoon is partnering with Southeast ถถา๕h Aquatics, a leader in aquatic safety and training. SELA Aquatics specializes in educating and certifying lifeguards and safety professionals through American Red Cross programs, ensuring staff are highly trained and prepared.

All waterslides and the Shockwave have been refreshed to provide smoother rides, and capacity levels have been adjusted to support a safer family experience. In addition, Liberty Lagoon is excited to bring in City Pork Catering & Events, offering upgraded food options for guests throughout the season.

General entry ticket prices are $12.ย Online tickets will be available 24 hours before your park play date, starting as low as $12 each. Ticket tiers will increase by $4 per level, with Tier 1 including slide access and the next tier including FloRider access. Children 1 year old and under are free. Online ticket sales are capped at 650, then ticket window options will be available as space allows. Check the weather before purchasing tickets, as no refunds will be issued. Splash pads

For splashing fun without committing to a day at the pool, check out the seven splash pads in town. These are all free, open to the public and open from sunrise to sunset until Oct. 13.ย

Anyone can activate the water spray features by pushing the activator button located within the splash pad. This will engage the water system and which will run for approximately 12 minutes and turn off. Pushing the button will activate the system again.
