UL third baseman Brooke Otto (2) had two doubles and a homer with four RBIs to help the Cajuns beat Abilene Christian 10-3 Saturday.

It took a little longer than expected, but the UL softball team run-ruled Abilene Christian on Saturday to open play in the Okana Invitational at Loveโ€™s Field in Norman, Oklahoma.

After giving up the opportunity to end the game in five innings by allowing three two-out runs in the top of the fifth inning, the Cajuns collected a 10-3 win over the Wildcats.

The Cajuns improved to 15-8 while Abilene Christian dropped to 2-18.

UL faced No. 3 Oklahoma later Saturday evening.

The Cajuns led 1-0 after two innings after Brooke Ottoโ€™s solo homer in the first, but UL got two more runs in the third.

Kennedy Marceaux walked to set the table before back-to-back run-scoring doubles from Otto and Cecilia Vasquez for a 3-0 cushion.

UL exploded with seven runs in the fourth inning. Otto was in the middle of it with a two-run double after Dayzja Williams came through with an RBI single.

Vasquez followed with a successful squeeze play, and Emily Smith followed with a sacrifice fly.

Otto finished the game 3 for 3 with two doubles, a homer and four RBIs.

Vasquez finished 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs. Miki Watts also contributed to the 13-hit effort with two hits.

UL starting pitcher Bethaney Noble was very close to throwing a five-hit shutout, but Ciana Arguijo extended the game with a two-out, two-run double ahead of Ari Maxwellโ€™s two-run single to avoid the run-rule ending to the game.

That rally cost Noble 60 extra pitches. She finished with three runs allowed on eight hits, one walk and only two strikeouts.
