A Nevada man was accused by police of victimizing an Acdiana child online, including trying to get the victim to commit suicide.
Christian Jonathan Carnes, 22, of Las Vegas, was tracked down and arrested by agents with ถถา๕h Attorney General Liz Murrillโs Bureau of Investigation with assistance from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Air Force Office of Special Investigations.
The investigation began with a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Carnes was arrested in Nevada and booked into the Clark County Detention Center. He was transported to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on Thursday.
Carnes was charged with:
Indecent behavior with juveniles, 3 counts
Criminal assistance to suicide, 1 count
Computer-aided solicitation of a minor, 2 counts
Extortion (felony), one count
The child did not commit suicide but was being enticed to do so, the attorney generalโs office said in a news release.
Carnes is believed to have victims throughout the United States.
He is being held on a $135,000 bond.
