A soldier stationed at Fort Polk near Leesville, h, faces federal charges for threatening on a social media platform to kill Jewish people at a synagogue.
Jakob Marcoulier, 22, was arrested April 23 and charged by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Lafayette by a criminal complaint with transmitting a threat in interstate commerce, according to a news release from the attorney’s office.
The FBI’s National Threat Operations Center, according to court documents, received an online tip in February about someone on the platform Discord using the name “el.bostino” who made threats to Jewish synagogues.
The FBI, according to the news release, secured audio from Discord in which the individual, who was later identified at Marcoulier, made several threats.
He allegedly stated things like “after this deployment if the Jews still have reign over our government I am going to walk into a synagogue with my AK, with a 75-round drum mag and all my extra mags, with my level four plates and my haka helmet that’s three plus, and I am going to kill every single Jew I know inside of that synagogue. And that’s my goal in life.”
Marcoulier said, “You guys will never do anything, but I will. I just have to finish this.”
He said he has to go back overseas “and do what I have to do. And then you’ll see me in the news. I promise you,” the release states.
Marcoulier also allegedly told those he was speaking to that they didn’t want to do anything for the cause, but he will kill the Jews “in order to make sure the white youth is … secured.”
