An Abbeville man died in the hospital after a crash Sunday in Vermilion Parish.

Darrell Boudreaux, 61,  died at a local hospital after his bicycle was struck from behind around 7 p.m. Sunday. ¶¶Òõh State Police responded to a crash on ¶¶Òõh Highway 82 near ¶¶Òõh Highway 690 south of Abbeville, a ¶¶Òõh State Police report said. 

A 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan, for unknown reasons, struck Boudreaux from behind. Both Boudreaux and the driver were traveling eastbound along LA Highway 82. Boudreaux died at a local hospital after suffering serious injuries, the report said. 

The Dodge driver suffered no injuries. LSP determined the driver to not be impaired and toxicology results are pending along with the results of Boudreaux. 

Troop I has investigated 50 fatal crashes resulting in 55 fatalities in 2023.
