A 2-year-old was shot Monday evening in Crowley, according to police.
The shooting occurred just before 11 p.m. Monday. Officers with the Crowley Police Department’s patrol and investigative divisions responded to the area around the 1500 block of N. Avenue I.
Police said they located a new model red Kia that had been hit with approximately 17 gunshots from a .9mm firearm.
There were two adult females and a 2-year-old child present when the vehicle was shot.
Only the 2-year-old child, who was asleep in a car seat was hit. The child was airlifted to a local hospital, where he is being treated for a gunshot wound to the head.
“Please join us as we pray for this two-year-old child that was needlessly shot. Our hearts are broken over such a horrible situation,” stated Chief Hebert and the Crowley Police Department.
