A rainy start to the weekend is forcing the closure of the annual Breaux Bridge Crawfish festival on Friday.
Festival officials announced on Friday that the event would not open due to weather conditions. The festival is scheduled to resume Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to midnight and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Rain is expected all day Friday with a widespread of showers and possible thunderstorms throughout the day.
Highs will reach near 70 degrees, with northeast winds around 10 mph and gusts up to 20 mph. Rainfall totals between a half inch and three-quarters of an inch are possible. The National Weather Service forecasters in Lake Charles said on Friday afternoon and evening, "Individuals should stay weather aware and monitor the latest forecasts and the potential for flooding."
Showers are likely to continue into Friday night and early Saturday morning, with chances of precipitation being 100% heading into early morning hours of Saturday.
Conditions should improve by Saturday afternoon, with skies turning mostly sunny and highs near 71 degrees.
By Sunday, dry and sunny weather is expected to return, with temperatures warming to around 76 degrees.
