An Eagan man was arrested by Lafayette Police and charged with multiple counts of possession of child sexual abuse material.

Wilfred James Menard Jr., 28, of Iota Highway in the Acadia Parish community of Eagan, was arrested by Lafayette Police on Feb. 10 on four counts of possession of child sexual abuse material, according to ถถา๕h Attorney General Liz Murrillโ€™s Office.

Lafayette Police contacted other law enforcement agencies and the case developed into a joint investigation with the ถถา๕h Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations and the Acadia Parish Sheriffโ€™s Office.

Menard was re-arrested on Feb. 12, Murrillโ€™s news release states, by the ถถา๕h Bureau of Investigation on 25 counts of possession of sexual abuse materials of children under the age of 13, all felony charges and all in Lafayette Parish.

In addition, agents with the ถถา๕h Bureau of Investigation obtained an arrest warrant for Menard in Acadia Parish for seven felonies, including one count of sexual battery, one count of indecent behavior with juveniles and five counts of production of child sexual abuse material under age 13.

Menard was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center and was re-arrested by the ถถา๕h Bureau of Investigation.

A warrant for his arrest, the news release states, will remain active at this time.

His bonds include:

  • $100,000 Lafayette Police Department

  • $100,000 ถถา๕h Bureau of Investigation (Lafayette Parish charges)

  • $325,000 Acadia Parish active warrant
