Where do you go when you want to make everyone happy for a working lunch? It has to be Taco Sisters.ย

This Lafayette eatery opened in 2009 near downtown Lafayette, and now sits on a busy section of Johnston Street, near popular restaurants La Fonda, Social Southern Table & Bar, El Pollo Loco and Bangkok Thai. Taco Sisters has created a lot of fans in their almost twenty year run, and it was the perfect spot for a mid-week lunch with colleaguesย โ€” all of whom have been coming here for years.ย

Burrito lunch Taco Sisters

That means we all have a favorite order, from their regular taco with pulled pork and a flour tortilla, to a cute little Banditoย โ€” a mini burrito with rice, cheese, Sisters Sauce, Pico de Gallo and your choice of beef, pork or chicken. It's quite a contrast to their regular burrito, which is roughly the size of a human head, and comes stuffed with cheese, onions and beans, with options to add meat, fish or shrimpย โ€” all for $9.95 with chicken, pork, ground beef or vegetables, or $11.95 with seafood, brisket or steak.ย ย

I love that their menu caters to different appetites, as evidenced by the Bandito compared to the burrito. The single tacos are a nice, full size that is perfect for lunch, but if you prefer to experience variety โ€” street taco styleย โ€” the "Three Little Sisters" comes with three little tacos, featuring chicken, pork and brisket.ย

On this trip, I had the regular pork taco. One of Taco Sisters' hallmarks is the focus on fresh ingredients that feel surprisingly light (for a taco), and my pulled pork taco came with bite-sized pieces of green apple that provided a sweet crunch that I loved.ย

Basil ginger lemonade Taco Sisters

Basil-ginger lemonade from Taco Sisters in Lafayette, LA.ย

We shared an order of chips and hot queso that came with a little scoop of Pico de Gallo on topย โ€” always a favoriteย โ€” and I recommend getting a house-made drink with your order. They have a very refreshing Cherry Limeade, but I'm a fool for ginger, so I went for the basil-ginger lemonade, which tastes just like a summery sip from the garden.ย

Taco Sisters is located at 3902 Johnston Street, from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday. They are closed on Sunday.ย
